CARAPACE High Performance Freeze Protection!

Heat-Line has just completed an energy efficiency study on their CARAPACE municipal and residential freeze protected water pipe system.

President and CEO Lorne Heise said he knew the product would do very well from an energy usage point of view as with all Heat-Line products but was astonished with the results.

The system was installed in Haliburton County, Ontario and was in use during one of the coldest and harshest winters in more than 2 decades.

The 270 foot (82 meter) product was put into service November 10th 2007 and was operating continuously until April 25 2008. During this period of time the product consumed a meagre 1821 KWH of electricity and when calculated at the rate of 5 cents per KWH the total cost for the entire winter is an incredible $91.05.

Heise says this is due to the patented product design where the conductive polymer heater or heating cable is always in full lineal contact with the polyethylene pipe wall. This provides superior heat conduction and transfer. This design also eliminates cold spots where a standard water pipe may not receive the required heat under extremely severe cold conditions because of poor heating cable contact. The conductive polymer or self regulating heating cable technology found in every Heat-Line product maximizes efficiency with insulation as CARAPACE will not overheat. "Old technologies could easily consume more than 10 times the power as they are unable to be insulated."

Sales for CARAPACE have been on a steep increase since inception approximately 3 years ago. CARAPACE is an excellent choice for municipal and rural pipe systems as they are 200 psi rated and 160 psi rated. They are also fully compatible with new constant pressure water systems. CARAPACE has gained wide acceptance in Canada's huge mining and exploration industry. These systems are operating in the Canadian arctic and circumpolar regions consistently delivering crucial water to workers in one of the harshest cold climates on earth.
