Product Information The EXT5R heating cable provides reliable external freeze protection and is supplied job-ready for ease of installation on existing pipe. EXT5R utilizes the unique performance and operating characteristics of self-regulating heating cable technology. EXT5R can be used in a variety of applications including, cottages, homes, resorts and farms for many different sizes and types of pipes. Insulation and a thermostat can be added to the system to ensure increased energy efficiency. Product Application EXT5R systems are designed for long length external applications of existing metallic or non-metallic pipes. Examples include; sewage pipes, forced mains and pressurized systems. Traditional style heat tapes must be pitched or spiraled around the pipes in order to apply adequate amounts of heat to un-insulated pipes making them very high in energy consumption. With EXT5R, the heating cable is simply applied longitudinally on all pipes depending on ambient temperature and insulation requirements; reducing overall length of product by as much as 60 percent. When combined with thermal insulation, the amount of heat required is reduced; thereby saving money in energy consumption.
