Thermostats
The use of a thermostat is optional with all Heat-Line self-regulating freeze protection systems. Heat-Line thermostats are designed to duty cycle the heating system in an ON/OFF operation. Depending on application, thermostats and insulation can improve performance and optimize energy efficiency by as much as 80 percent.

Heat-Line offers two cCSAus approved thermostats. The HLJ-Stat is a 120 volt plug in device which requires no field wiring. The HLJ-Stat comes complete with an 18 foot sensor lead and is pre-set to maintain the Heat-Line system at 50°F / 10°C. The HTLN thermostat is a 120 volt or 240 volt product which comes complete with a 25' (100' available) sensor lead. HTLN requires installation by a qualified professional and can be set based on specific freeze protection requirements.

Use of Thermostats

Insulation
Heat-Line recommends all water pipes above ground and buried to be insulated. In applications where an existing buried pipe is to be freeze protected it is not necessary that it be insulated. Insulation on all pipes above ground aid in prevention of heat loss within the pipe.

Heat-Line offers ¾" wall thickness, closed cell, self sealing polyethylene insulation sleeves which are pre-scored in 6' lengths to fit 1" and 1 ¼" pipes. Depending on application, combining insulation and thermostatic control can increase energy savings by as much as 80%.

Ground Fault Electrical Protection Device (GFEPD)
Every Heat-Line plug in cord set comes complete with a cCSAus approved 27 milliamp ground fault protection device. This device (GFEPD) is installed for equipment protection and is considered one of the greatest safety advancements in the electrical industry. GFEPD's are designed to turn the system off should the electrical components become damaged. GFEPD's have test and reset buttons along with a pilot light to indicate the system is on and functioning correctly. For custom applications GF120/240HLC is available.

Philmac® Fittings
Heat-Line carries a large range of Philmac® compression style fittings designed for connection of polyethylene water pipes. Philmac® fittings are constructed out of highly developed material and feature a solid ergonomic grip and exceptional interchangeability. Philmac® fittings are CSA approved and resistant to freezing in above and below ground applications. Philmac® is the premium choice for customers concerned with a long term performance.

Roof Clips
Roof clips are engineered brackets designed to secure a Paladin heating cable or Heat-Line cut-to-length roof and gutter de-icing cables. The roof clips provide an easy, strong and secure support for cabling on sloped roofs with shingles or metal roofs with standing seams. The roof clips can be secured with screws, nails, or appropriate adhesives.

Cable Guards
Cable Guards are designed to provide mechanical protection for the Paladin heating cable wherever it may pass over or onto an edge which may result in injury to the outer jacket. The cable guard simply wraps around the Paladin heating cable for easy, effective protection.

Foot Valve Stands
Heat-Line foot valve stands are designed to keep the foot valve off the bottom of the lake or river and keep it clear of debris. Constructed of polyethylene, the foot valve stand rests on the lake bottom without the worry of rust or corrosion. Due to its circular wheel construction, it can move on the lake bottom without tipping over like conventional foot valve stands. The stand has four oval shaped holes allowing water to pass through so it stays on the bottom. The foot valve stand is precut to fit both 1" and 1¼" pipe although it can be easily altered to fit other pipe diameters.

Submersible Pump Stands
Heat-Line offers a submersible pump stand kit which provides mechanical protection for your pump, without jeopardizing performance in a lake application.
